Naked thoughts from Shanghai Rail Summit in Shanghai

Some after thoughts after going to the Shanghai Rail Summit in Shanghai China. The event was Sponsored primarily JP Morgan and the Ministry of Railroads in China.China needs money for further development of the railroads. Sounds simple enough given the amount of investment being thrown at China lately. However since the Chinese helped us build ours the world has changed a bit and so have property rights issues.Established Railroads in the United States own a bunch of land and you cant really invest in that part of the equation in China. Endless you get a substantial rate of return from one of the largest government agencies.Tried to meet with Freddy Bush and Xnihua Finance at this event or there Shanghai office but were unavailable perhaps next time.Warren Buffet took a chunk of Burlington Northern Santa Fe BNSF recently. The play is the inland storage facilities .Not just in China but to our south in Mexico where goods come in. Look for Inland container facilities outside of Chicago and south Dallas. disassembly of iptv set top box

A few weeks ago John Verges from New Market China [NMCH] stopped in MN1.com for a live interview on his way back to China. He dropped off an IPTV set top box. When I was in Shanghai I visited the Gaozhi office that makes this box. Now I can watch all the Communist propaganda and China love videos one can handle.

How to create a cool job

This is a mash up video we did for New Market Technology's blog.(more to come) Phil Verges the CEO took me along to China and let me film and document the trade mission. Having this leeway and the trust of a CEO of a publicly traded company is a good feeling and validation of new media techniques deployed to frame up a message. From a small company to a big company like GE rolling out an ecomagination web site its all good.
Now I might not have hit pay dirt and solved the puzzle like WallStrip (yet)but ill take that trip to Brazil, Chile, and Mexico this July 15th collect the memory and put the rest on a gift certificate Vanna White!

Virginia Tech shooter and Shanghai connection

Went to the US State Department Public affairs office in Shanghai yesterday to ask about VT shooter nut job Cho Seung-hui. Lisa Evans from that office who greated me outside while the Chinese fast food was delivered declined to comment if the student visa was issued came from Shanghai. She did say however that she received many phone calls regarding this inquiry and for me to call the Virginia State Police. I was however the first person to knock on the door to ask in person. Today this story was on the front page of the China Daily. Chicago Sun Time’s Michael Sneed reported the wrong information on this and the media did a pile on. Im sure we will see more of this in the future...dont get faked out.

Ehoooo The Eye of the Tiger!

It rained last night so the streets were clean and the air was crisp. This time I got hit up by an “artist’ Chin Sha (Larry David look alike) and bought a water color of a tiger. Followed the hard hats to a construction site and got another version of the Chinese’s breakfast burrito .Morning time really is the best time to walk around an unfamiliar city. Click on the link to the left and see the other snaps I took today

Ok they got me!

Took a cab ride down to the bund water front and did the normal early morning walk around. A few people doing Tai Chi. Took some hazy shots of the Pudong district and ate a breakfast burrito off the street. I had one of these many years ago in Beijing and have been craving one ever since. I took a video of this and will post later. The fake watch guy badgered me till I bought this watch pictured about 100 yuan. That’s about 10 bucks I think. cheaper then buying a battery. China Daily has the shooting head lines. Small world we live in. Time to go over to the Starbucks that opens at 7am how lame
